Cyprus police conduct island-wide safety operations
Cyprus police have been conducting a series of intensive, coordinated overnight operations across urban areas to prevent crime and maintain public order. Reports from various sources indicate fluctuating statistics regarding the operations, with some sources reporting 11 arrests for offenses including drink-driving, illegal property possession, and unlawful stay. Police records show that between 502 and 916 vehicles were stopped, with 689 to 1,231 people checked during these patrols. Authorities conducted between 35 and 38 inspections of business premises, resulting in four to nine reports for various violations. Traffic enforcement was a primary focus, with police issuing between 321 and 492 fines for road offenses. Additionally, officers carried out numerous alcohol tests and impounded 10 vehicles as part of their investigations. The police have confirmed that these targeted operations will continue on a daily basis to ensure public safety.
