Escalating regional conflict between Israel, the US, and Iran
As of March 9, 2026, the ongoing military conflict between Israel and the US against Iran and its allies has entered its ninth day, resulting in significant regional instability. Israeli forces conducted strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, targeting Hezbollah and allegedly killing three high-ranking IRGC Quds Force commanders. Since the conflict began on March 2, the death toll in Lebanon has reached 394, including 83 children and 42 women. Concurrently, Iran launched drone and missile attacks across the Gulf, including a strike on a BAPCO refinery in Bahrain and facilities in Saudi Arabia, where two civilians were killed. Israel also reported casualties in Tel Aviv from retaliatory missile fire. Meanwhile, the Pentagon confirmed the loss of eight US soldiers. Iranian officials rejected calls for an immediate ceasefire, warning that the conflict has entered a new phase and threatening further attacks on regional energy infrastructure, including the Strait of Hormuz.
