Arrest of father in Limassol attempted murder case
On Sunday afternoon, police arrested a 56-year-old Syrian man in Limassol for alleged complicity in the attempted murder of a 36-year-old Syrian national on December 20. The incident occurred on Anexartisias Street, where the victim was attacked with tasers and stabbed in the shoulder. The two primary suspects, the arrested man's sons aged 20 and 30, were previously apprehended after a maritime pursuit near Ormideia while attempting to flee the country. Sources differ on the nationality of the sons, citing them as either Lebanese or Syrian. Investigators allege the father purchased a large boat to facilitate their escape and attempted to sell a Mercedes vehicle used during the crime. Following the initial attack, the 30-year-old suspect's barbershop was vandalized by unknown individuals. The victim, who was initially in critical condition, has since regained consciousness and provided a formal statement to the authorities. The 56-year-old father is expected to appear in court for a remand hearing to facilitate further investigations.
