63-year-old man arrested for killing his brother in Viannos, Crete

On Saturday evening, February 14, a 67-year-old man was found dead in his home in the village of Martha, Viannos, located in Heraklion, Crete. His 63 or 64-year-old brother was arrested at the scene after contacting the Viannos Police Station at approximately 19:40 to report a violent altercation. The victim suffered multiple fatal stab wounds to the neck and abdomen, with the murder weapon found still lodged in his body. Evidence at the crime scene, including boot prints on the victim's head, indicated a severe physical struggle prior to the stabbing. According to police sources, the dispute began over car keys but was rooted in long-standing personal and family differences. The perpetrator reportedly confessed to the crime and exhibited no remorse during his initial statements to the authorities. Investigators are also examining whether the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The Hellenic Police have secured the area and the suspect faces charges of intentional homicide.
