Four dead and 21 injured in apartment complex fire in Budapest suburb
A fire broke out early in the morning at a social housing complex in the Budakeszi suburb of Budapest, Hungary. The blaze spread rapidly, trapping residents inside their apartments and resulting in four fatalities. Hungarian police reported that three victims were found dead inside the building, while a fourth person died in the hospital from critical injuries. At least 21 other individuals were injured, many suffering from respiratory issues due to smoke inhalation. Emergency responders provided on-site first aid to dozens of residents before transporting the most serious cases to medical facilities. Firefighting crews spent several hours bringing the intense flames under control. Witnesses described scenes of panic as the fire consumed parts of the building within minutes. While an official investigation is ongoing, preliminary assessments suggest the fire was accidental. Early evidence points toward a gas cylinder explosion in one of the apartments as the potential cause.
