Annita Demetriou calls for immediate measures at Makario Hospital oncology clinic

On February 13, 2026, the President of the House of Representatives and DISY, Annita Demetriou, visited the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at Makario Hospital. The visit followed an invitation from Louiza Stefanidou, President of the Association of Parents and Friends of the clinic, to address complaints regarding noise and dust from ongoing construction. Demetriou stated that the current situation is unacceptable and emphasized that while construction should continue, effective measures must be taken to protect young patients. She called for better coordination among responsible bodies, noting that agencies appear to be shifting blame. Additionally, she demanded a clear completion timetable, highlighting that the project has already faced delays. The AKEL party also issued a statement expressing concern and urging the government and the State Health Services Organization (OKYpY) to implement transparent safety measures. Stefanidou expressed hope that the measures previously announced by OKYpY would finally be realized to relieve the patients and their families.
