Cyprus U12 boys national tennis team takes second place at European Winter Cups

The Cyprus U12 Boys National Tennis Team secured second place at the Tennis Europe Winter Cups by Dunlop held in Sunderland from February 13 to 15. This result marks the highest achievement for any Cypriot national tennis team in history. The squad comprised Andreas Grigoriou, Andreas Leontis, and Nicolas Anastasiades, under the guidance of coach Yiannos Hadjigeorgiou. During the tournament, Cyprus defeated Estonia 3-0 in the quarter-finals and Romania 2-1 in the semi-finals. In the final against Italy, Andreas Grigoriou won his singles match 2-0, while Andreas Leontis lost his match 0-2. The title was decided in a doubles match where Grigoriou and Leontis were defeated 1-2 by the Italian pair of Ascanio Andrea Castellana and Enrico Sesti. The final score was 2-1 in favor of Italy. The delegation was supported by the President of the Cyprus Tennis Federation, Dimitris Leontis.
