Legal500 GC Summit 2026 in Nicosia focuses on new foreign direct investment regulations
The Legal500 GC Summit 2026 took place at the Landmark Nicosia Hotel in Cyprus, with Elias Neocleous & Co LLC serving as a sponsor for the eighth consecutive year. Approximately 100 lawyers and in-house counsel attended the event to discuss current legal and regulatory developments. A primary focus of the conference was the implementation of EU Regulation 2019/452 into national law through the Law on the Establishment of a Framework for the Control of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) of 2025. This legislation is scheduled to come into effect on April 2, 2026. A panel discussion regarding the new FDI screening mechanism featured speakers from Elias Neocleous & Co LLC, Sumsub, and Pepperstone EU Limited. Andrea Kallis opened the panel, followed by Emilios Charalambous, who detailed the background and scope of the law. Rafaella Charalampous and Alexey Drobyshev also contributed perspectives on corporate structuring and legal compliance. The event aimed to facilitate dialogue between legal firms and in-house counsel on the potential impact of these regulatory changes.
