Cyprus and Greece coordinate on affordable housing policies

In a meeting held in Nicosia, Cyprus Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou and Greek Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Domna Michailidou discussed cooperation on housing policies. The talks centered on the European Plan for Affordable Housing, which was presented under the Cypriot Presidency to EU ministers in early February. Both officials emphasized the need for a common approach to address the pan-European shortage of affordable housing. They agreed to exchange best practices and expertise to strengthen national strategies in both countries. Minister Ioannou highlighted that while housing is primarily a member-state responsibility, it significantly impacts social cohesion and economic competitiveness. One report also mentioned the involvement of officials Mousiouttas and Efthymiou in policy coordination efforts. The meeting aimed to foster dialogue and implement sustainable housing solutions for citizens in both nations.
