Young Cypriots and Greeks lead EU in AI adoption among youth

Eurostat data for 2025 reveals that 76.5% of Cypriots aged 16-24 utilize artificial intelligence tools, significantly exceeding the EU average of 63.8%. Greece recorded the highest adoption rate in this age group at 83.5%, followed by Estonia at 82.8% and Czechia at 78.5%. Conversely, Romania, Italy, and Poland reported the lowest usage rates, all falling below 50%. In Cyprus, a notable generational divide exists, as only 32.7% of the general population aged 16-74 uses AI. Among young Cypriots who abstain from AI, 38% cited a lack of necessity, while only 1% expressed privacy or security concerns. Across the EU, 39.3% of youth use AI for educational purposes and 44.2% for private tasks like entertainment and organization. Data suggests students are increasingly shifting from using AI as a supplementary tool to a primary method for completing academic assignments and dissertations.
