Carnival celebrations and traffic measures begin in Cyprus cities

Carnival festivities have officially commenced across several Cypriot cities, including Limassol, Aglantzia, Paphos, and Larnaca. In Limassol, the children's parade began at 11:30 AM on February 15, led by the 'Queen of Passion and Madness' and the Batukinio percussion group. Aglantzia is hosting its 16th annual parade on Kyrenia Avenue with an expected participation of over 8,000 people. Significant traffic restrictions are in place, including the closure of parts of 28th October Street and Spyrou Araouzou Street in Limassol during weekend events. In Nicosia, Agiou Ilarionos Avenue faced closures on February 14 to accommodate local events. Further major road closures are scheduled for the Grand Parade in Limassol on February 22, affecting Archbishop Makarios III Avenue from morning until late night. Municipal authorities have urged the public to follow police instructions and use alternative routes to avoid congestion.
