Cyprus building permits rise by 9% in the first ten months of 2025

The Statistical Service of Cyprus reported a 9.0% increase in building permits issued between January and October 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. A total of 6,490 permits were issued, up from 5,955 the previous year. The total value of these permits rose by 27.7%, while the total area increased by 30.7%. The number of residential units saw the most significant growth at 33.1%. In October 2025 alone, 855 permits were granted with a total value of €447.6 million and a surface area of 356,200 square meters. These specific permits involve the construction of 1,950 residential units. Since July 1, 2024, the responsibility for issuing permits has transitioned from municipalities and district administrations to District Local Government Organizations (EOA). All licensing procedures are now conducted through the new integrated information system called Ippodamos. The data demonstrates a strengthening of construction activity, particularly in terms of value and new housing units.
