Investigation into alleged assault on autistic student by teacher in Patras

The Directorate of Primary Education in Patras has ordered a Sworn Administrative Inquiry (EDE) following allegations of violence against a 9-year-old autistic student at a special elementary school. The child's mother filed a formal complaint and a lawsuit, stating that a teacher slapped her son three times in the face inside the classroom. According to the family, the incident occurred while the boy was eating and was witnessed by a private parallel support assistant hired by the parents. The Greek Police have formed a case file against the teacher for causing bodily harm to a vulnerable person. A second teacher who was allegedly present and failed to intervene is also included in the legal proceedings. Both educators are currently being sought by authorities as part of the preliminary investigation. The mother further claimed that this was not an isolated incident involving this specific teacher. The school administration is awaiting the results of the administrative inquiry while the child remains in a state of shock.
