Funeral services announced for two clergymen in Cyprus

Reports have been published regarding the deaths of two clergymen, Father Georgios Nikolaou and Father Georgios Konstantinou. Father Georgios Nikolaou, aged 81, passed away on February 12, 2026, and was originally from Prastio Morphou. His funeral is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Church of Agios Auxivios in Astromeritis. The service will be presided over by Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou, with the body lying in state from 7:00 AM. In a separate announcement, the funeral of Father Georgios Konstantinou, also known as Konstantinos Papageorgiou, took place on Thursday, February 12, 2026. This service was held at 3:30 PM at the Church of Agios Theodoros in Politiko. Father Nikolaou is survived by a large family including three sons who are also priests. Father Konstantinou is survived by his wife Maria and four children. Donations for Father Nikolaou are being requested for the construction of a new church in Astromeritis.
