Russian and Ukrainian strikes cause civilian casualties and major infrastructure damage

Russian forces launched a massive overnight attack against Ukraine using 154 drones and a ballistic missile, of which 111 were intercepted. In the Donetsk region, three siblings aged 8 and 19 were killed in a strike that also injured their mother and grandmother. Attacks on Odesa resulted in one death and six injuries, while causing extensive damage to port, railway, and energy infrastructure. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that nearly 3,700 residential buildings in the capital were left without heating due to strikes on the power grid. Conversely, Ukrainian drones targeted Russia's Volgograd region, where Governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed three hospitalizations and damage to industrial sites. Reports also indicated that a Lukoil refinery in Volgograd suspended operations earlier this week following a drone-induced fire. Energy provider DTEK stated that restoration of the power supply in Odesa would require significant time due to the severity of the damage.
