Retrospective exhibition of Stelios Votsis artworks opens in Nicosia

The Alpha C.K. Art Gallery in Nicosia is hosting a retrospective exhibition featuring 37 selected artworks by the prominent Cypriot painter Stelios Votsis. Opening on Friday, February 13, 2026, the exhibition showcases pieces from various periods of the artist's six-decade career and will run until February 27. Votsis, who lived from 1929 to 2012, is considered a pioneer of contemporary Cypriot art and a key figure in post-war modernism. Born in Larnaca, he received his education in England at Saint Martin’s School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art. Throughout his career, he represented Cyprus at major international events, including the Venice, Alexandria, and São Paulo Biennales. He also served as a co-founder and president of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts, contributing to the institutional development of art on the island. His works are currently held in prestigious collections such as the National Gallery of Greece, the Presidential Palace of Cyprus, and the Vorres Museum in Athens.
