The incident occurred during the 26th round of the Euroleague season. Bartzokas reportedly approached the stands and the railing to respond to provocative comments from the crowd. According to one report, the individual involved was a supporter of Panathinaikos, while others simply referred to him as a spectator. The exchange was described as brief but intense, causing concern among other attendees who witnessed the tension. As a direct result of this behavior, the Euroleague disciplinary committee has officially imposed a fine of 4,000 euros on the Greek coach. The decision was reported on February 12 following a review of the post-game events. This penalty reflects the league's stance on maintaining professional conduct during and after matches.
