CEN and CENELEC publish the 2026 European standardization work program

The European Standardization Organizations CEN and CENELEC have officially released their Work Program for 2026. This document outlines strategic priorities across 16 business sectors, providing details on technical bodies and the current volume of published standards. Key technological focus areas include Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and the Digital Product Passport to facilitate the digital transition. The program also prioritizes the green transition, covering clean technologies, renewable energy sources, and the circular economy. According to the announcement, these standards aim to strengthen the European Single Market while ensuring safety and accountability. The 2026 plan includes the continued implementation of the Strategy 2030 framework. CEN and CENELEC are currently collaborating with the European Commission to review and enhance the efficiency and transparency of the European standardization system. The Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS) highlighted the program's role in providing tools for future-oriented technological development.
