Three members of Cyprus Youth Board resign amid internal conflicts and investigations
Three members of the Board of Directors of the Youth Board of Cyprus (ONEK) resigned on Wednesday, February 11, just before a scheduled board meeting. The resigning members include Vice President Amalia Avraam, Sotos Vasiliou, and Theofanis Kosta, who represents the NEDISY youth organization. Board President Konstantina Achilleos stated that the meeting was intended to examine procedural irregularities and administrative failures, making the timing of the resignations questionable. According to reports, internal conflicts and personal disputes between top officials have created a toxic climate within the organization. With three of the seven board members now gone, the body has lost its necessary quorum to function. Minister of Education Athena Michaelidou has been informed and indicated that government decisions regarding the organization's future are expected shortly. The resignations follow a previous call by Pavlos Mylonas, Chairman of the Parliamentary Education Committee, for the dismissal of the entire board due to operational concerns.
