Andreas Karakatsanis appointed General Manager of Larnaka 2030

The Board of Directors of the Larnaka 2030 organization has appointed Andreas Karakatsanis as its new General Manager following a special session. Karakatsanis is a professional civil engineer with degrees from the National Technical University of Athens and Carnegie-Mellon University. He previously served as the Director of Technical Services for the Municipality of Larnaca for 17 years, a tenure that concluded in September 2023. His extensive career includes two decades working for the British Ministry of Defence as a senior civil engineer at the British Bases in Cyprus. Additionally, he has held leadership roles as the Deputy Director of the Larnaca Sewerage Board and as the Chief Operating Officer of the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute. In January 2024, the Council of Ministers appointed him to the Board of the Cyprus University of Technology, where he was elected Vice President. His new mandate is to lead Larnaca’s institutional path toward its mission as the European Capital of Culture in 2030.
