German media outlet Bild reports that 70-year-old billionaire and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt is in a relationship with 27-year-old model Gloria-Sophie Burkandt, the daughter of Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder. The pair was first photographed together at the World Economic Forum in Davos and reportedly celebrated New Year’s Eve together. Sources close to Schmidt informed the New York Post that the relationship is strictly a friendship, though Bild asserts they have been traveling together almost daily across the USA, India, and Europe. Burkandt, who holds a Master's degree in business and economics and is pursuing a doctorate in New York, has appeared in Vogue Turkey and has previously spoken out about past experiences of sexual harassment. The two are expected to make their next public appearance at the upcoming Munich Security Conference. Burkandt currently divides her professional and personal time between New York, Los Angeles, and Germany. The reports highlight the 43-year age gap between the tech mogul and the economist.
