Cyprus trade deficit reaches 8 billion euros in 2025

Cyprus' trade deficit widened to €8.001 billion in 2025, an increase of €606 million compared to the previous year. According to preliminary data from the Statistical Service, total imports for the year rose by 7.7% to €13.551 billion, while total exports increased by 7.0% to €5.550 billion. In December 2025, imports fell by 13.1% to €1.204 billion, with EU member states accounting for €789.3 million. Conversely, December exports grew by 30.5% to reach €490.5 million, supported by €130.1 million in ship ownership transfers. Final figures for November 2025 showed a 10.1% decrease in imports to €1.043 billion. Domestic exports in November reached €283.9 million, primarily driven by industrial goods which totaled €276.6 million. Agricultural exports for November remained modest at €6.2 million.
