Sports judge imposes fines on Paphos FC players and others for disciplinary breaches
On February 11, 2026, Aristotle Vryonides, the Sports Judge for the Cyprus Football Association, announced disciplinary fines following several matches held on January 31, 2026. David Luiz of Paphos FC received a fine for critical statements regarding refereeing made to Cytavision after the match against Ethnikos Achnas. The judge ruled that these comments harmed the prestige and dignity of the officiating team and individual referees. Additionally, Paphos FC players Jay Corter and Derrick Luckassen were fined for improper behavior toward the fourth official during the same match. In the Second Division, PAEEK trainer Karlo Tzialli was penalized for continuous protests against the assistant referee during a game against MEAP. Ayia Napa player Marios Peratikos also received a fine for leaving the bench to confront an official during the match against Karmiotissa. The decisions were based on formal complaints filed by match referees Panayiotis P. Hadjigeorgiou, Konstantinos Theodorou, and Andreas Kantilaftis. All penalties involve financial fines for the participants involved.
