Expansion of TEPAK student housing and new school in Larnaca announced
The Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) is significantly expanding its infrastructure with new student residences and academic departments. During a meeting of the House Education Committee, it was revealed that 500 new student beds will be made available by 2027, specifically at the Berengaria site in Limassol. Sources differ on the timeline for the first phase, with some reporting 150 beds will be ready by this summer and others stating they will be completed by 2026. The TEPAK School of Marine Sciences and Sustainable Development is scheduled to begin its operations in Larnaca in September 2027. Additionally, lawmakers discussed a strategic proposal for a new TEPAK school in the Famagusta district to promote regional development. Plans were also reviewed for the opening of two departments from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Larnaca, though their scheduled start this September is currently considered uncertain. Finally, the committee addressed a proposal for a veterinary school in Athienou in collaboration with the University of Thessaly, while MP Georgios Karoullas suggested providing incentives for student co-habitation to mitigate high rental costs.
