45-year-old man arrested in Limassol drug case linked to attempted murder

Cyprus police arrested a 45-year-old man on Tuesday in connection with a major drug seizure found during an investigation into an attempted murder committed in December 2024. Forensic evidence linked the suspect to narcotics discovered on December 30, 2024, during a search of a 25-year-old man’s home in Ayia Fyla, Limassol. During that raid, officers seized 2.435 kilograms of cannabis, 940 grams of cannabis resin, 105 grams of cocaine, a live round of ammunition, and cash totaling €1,575 and $200. The 45-year-old appeared before the Limassol District Court on Wednesday, where the case was referred to the Criminal Court with a hearing set for March 23, 2026. Although the court ordered his release under specific conditions, the suspect remains in custody as he has not yet met them. The original investigation involved the shooting of a 39-year-old man at the 25-year-old's residence during a meeting to resolve differences. Two other suspects, the 25-year-old resident and a 20-year-old woman arrested in January 2025, are currently facing trial. The Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) is continuing its investigation into the distribution and ownership of the seized substances.
