Cyprus National Betting Authority rejects license renewal for BookieCo
The National Betting Authority of Cyprus has announced its decision not to renew the Class A betting license for Bookieco Betting Stores Ltd, which operates under the trade name BookieCo. The company's license, numbered A016, officially expired on February 9, 2026, meaning it is legally barred from providing betting services in the Republic of Cyprus as of February 10. This prohibition extends to all physical premises of the recipient and its authorized representatives under the Betting Law of 2019. While the regulatory announcement focused on the license expiration, media reports link the decision to the arrest of a prominent Larnaca businessman who is listed as an executive of the firm. The individual was reportedly detained following a violent altercation involving gunfire in Larnaca on January 17. The Authority has instructed the public to contact the company’s registered office at Quality Towers A in Larnaca to settle any outstanding financial or administrative matters. Additionally, the National Betting Authority stated it remains available to assist players in resolving disputes or complaints against the company. This move effectively ends the legal operations of the BookieCo brand across the island. The registered address for the company is listed as 11-13 Piliou Street, 4th Floor, Office 401, 6037 Larnaca.
