Survey reveals systemic failures in Cyprus's GHS computer system
A survey conducted by the Cyprus Medical Association (CMA) between September 30 and November 30, 2025, highlights major technical issues within the General Healthcare System (GHS) computer platform. Polling 728 doctors from various specialties, the study found that 91% of respondents experienced system outages or total unavailability. These disruptions typically last between one and four hours and occur on a weekly or even daily basis. Consequently, 65% of doctors reported appointment delays and patient backlogs, while 80% stated they must work outside regular hours to manage the workload. Technical errors like freezing and disconnections were reported by 82% of participants, and 86% criticized the system's medical protocols as bureaucratic and unclear. Only 46% of doctors rated the system's ease of use positively. The CMA warned that these systemic malfunctions compromise healthcare safety and urged authorities to implement a permanent solution.
