Bounced cheques in Cyprus reach 17 in January 2026
According to data from the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), 17 bounced cheques were recorded in January 2026 with a total value of €47,091. This represents a slight increase from January 2025, when 16 cheques worth €42,062 were registered. Throughout the entirety of 2025, the Central Information Register (CIR) recorded a total of 213 outstanding cheques valued at €630,249. In January 2026, 13 persons were added to the CIR preliminary list, including nine legal entities and four natural persons. Additionally, 10 persons were recorded in the main CIR during the same month, comprising five legal entities and five individuals controlling legal entities. Notably, no independent natural persons were registered in the main CIR for January 2026. In comparison, January 2025 saw six persons registered, split between two legal entities, two controlling individuals, and two natural persons.
