Giannis Ioannou proposes expert committee to evaluate APOEL Brazilian investment
Giannis Ioannou, President of the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) and former president of the APOEL club, suggested forming a committee of mutually accepted lawyers and accountants to examine the Brazilian investment proposal. He recommended that this committee produce a factual report within one week to address public concerns regarding the club's future. APOEL FC management recently confirmed that the investment group, Sports Legacy Negocios Esportivos Ltda, plans an initial liquidity injection of 3.3 million euros. This first phase does not require a general assembly, though subsequent stages involving share capital will need official approval from both the assembly and the sports club. Despite this, some reports highlight critical gaps in the preliminary agreement regarding existing debts and repayment schedules. The APOEL sports club board has expressed specific reservations and submitted its own Letter of Intent (LOI) to the investors after multiple consultative meetings. The football company is currently awaiting a response from the Brazilian group concerning these suggested amendments. The situation remains fluid as both the company and the club seek to align their goals for the team's benefit.
