Reports of torture at illegal casino premises in Pyla
The Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission (CGC) has clarified that reported incidents of torture and citizen maltreatment occurred in illegal casino premises in Pyla. These venues are not associated with the licensed casino resort or its satellite facilities and operate outside the legal regulatory framework. Following the emergence of disturbing video footage, police have identified four victims and arrested a 48-year-old suspect who appeared in court. During the proceedings, the suspect alleged that there had been an attempted murder against him. Law enforcement authorities are currently searching for weaponry and investigating reports of additional criminal activities linked to these sites. The CGC emphasized that licensed establishments operate under strict supervision concerning public order and safety. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine the evidence from the viral videos. The case has highlighted the dangers of unregulated gambling dens in the region.
