Cyprus farmers to protest outside Agricultural Payments Organisation in Nicosia
On February 16, 2026, the Pan-Cyprian Grain Producers Association and multiple agricultural organizations will hold a protest featuring tractors in Nicosia. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 11:30 outside the headquarters of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation (KOAP). This decision was reached unanimously during a joint meeting held in Larnaca on February 3, 2026. Farmers are protesting the delay in subsidy payments, specifically area-based and special measures that were promised for December. Additionally, many producers report significant and unjustified deductions from the payments they did receive. Organizers claim that while competent state services have made necessary arrangements, KOAP continues to present administrative obstacles and impractical requirements. The protest aims to highlight recurring issues affecting farmers' income and the overall sustainability of the agricultural sector. The organizers have issued an open call to all farmers to join the mobilization to demand immediate solutions.
