Authorities investigate multiple vehicle fires in Limassol, Larnaca, and Evrychou
Several separate vehicle fire incidents were reported across Cyprus between February 12 and 15, 2026. On Sunday, February 15, at approximately 3:50 AM, a fire broke out in a vehicle used by a 38-year-old man in the Moniatis area of Limassol. The Fire Service controlled the blaze, which caused damage primarily to the rear of the car; however, one source reported the vehicle was completely destroyed. The Lania Police Station is currently investigating the cause. Earlier, around midnight on February 14, another car fire occurred in Aradippou, Larnaca, involving a vehicle owned by a 45-year-old man parked outside his residence. Forensic examinations determined this specific incident was caused by an electrical short circuit that damaged the front of the car. Additionally, trade unions issued a statement condemning an arson attack on Game and Fauna Service vehicles in Evrychou that occurred on Thursday, February 12. The unions are calling for increased security measures and a thorough investigation into these malicious acts targeting the service's personnel and property.
