Limassol businessman and accomplice remanded over luxury car showroom arson
On January 25, 2026, a deliberate arson attack occurred at a luxury car showroom in Limassol, resulting in damages exceeding 330,000 euros. The Limassol District Court has ordered a five-day remand for a 49-year-old local businessman and a six-day remand for a 28-year-old suspect. Investigators identified the 28-year-old through CCTV footage showing an SUV fleeing the scene toward Nicosia. Police discovered 18,000 euros in cash, five mobile phones, and two replica pistols during a search of the businessman's home and vehicle. The 49-year-old denies any involvement, claiming the SUV was registered to his company without his knowledge. The fire destroyed two luxury vehicles and damaged five others, while the Russian co-owner reported the loss of eight paintings valued at 120,000 euros. The business is owned by a 37-year-old Romanian national. Limassol CID is continuing its investigation into charges of conspiracy, arson, and burglary.
