Financial aid of 1.5 million euros for sheep and goat farming, who the beneficiaries are

The Cabinet recently approved a financial aid package totaling 1.5 million euros to support the sheep and goat farming sector. This initiative aims to encourage the implementation of modern reproductive management practices to improve animal productivity and sustainability. Eligible beneficiaries include livestock farms with at least 200 female animals that are at least ten months old. Additionally, farms must hold a specific food registration certificate and record their milk distribution on the Department of Agriculture's electronic platform. The primary goal is to support producers contributing to Halloumi Protected Designation of Origin production while enhancing sector competitiveness. This decision is part of a broader policy framework designed to ensure sustainable development in rural economies.
