Will Lewis announced on Saturday his departure from his role as the publisher and CEO of the Washington Post. This resignation comes in the wake of significant internal turmoil following a series of mass layoffs at the newspaper. In a message sent to the staff, Lewis explained that difficult decisions were necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the publication. Jeff D’Onofrio, the current Chief Financial Officer, is set to step in as the interim publisher and CEO. Lewis had taken over the leadership in 2023, following a prominent career at Dow Jones & Company and the Wall Street Journal. The Washington Post remains under the ownership of billionaire Jeff Bezos.
