European Karate Championships: Success and a medal on the first day for Cyprus!

The first day of the 53rd European Karate Championships concluded successfully at the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center in Limassol. Cyprus achieved an early milestone by securing its first bronze medal on the opening day of the event. Fifteen-year-old athlete Areti Kleanthous delivered a standout performance in the Cadet Kumite -47kg category through the repechage rounds. She notably defeated the top-ranked German athlete before securing her podium finish against a competitor from Croatia. Several other members of the Cypriot national team gained valuable experience and showed promise against elite European opponents. The Cyprus Karate Federation expressed its congratulations to all participants and thanked its sponsors for their ongoing support.
