Current state of the electorate – "Direct Democracy" and "Sikou Pano" pending registration

The electorate in Cyprus currently stands at 561,252 voters according to the latest finalized rolls for the upcoming parliamentary elections in May 2026. Elikkos Ilia, the Director General of the Ministry of Interior, stated that letters will be sent to citizens turning 18 to encourage voter registration before the April deadline. There are currently 26 registered political parties, with three new applications including "Direct Democracy" and "Sikou Pano" currently under review. Registration remains open until April 2, 2026, and can be completed online for those under the age of 25. Plans are also being made for overseas polling stations in cities like Athens and London, with Brussels added as a new option due to the Cyprus Presidency of the EU council. The ministry is launching two major information campaigns to bolster voter turnout and registration among the youth.
