France-Epstein: Investigation launched against former minister Jack Lang
France's financial prosecutor's office has launched a tax fraud investigation targeting former Culture Minister Jack Lang and his daughter, Caroline. The probe follows revelations by Mediapart concerning alleged financial connections to the disgraced American financier Jeffrey Epstein. Jack Lang, who currently serves as the president of the Arab World Institute, has been summoned by the French Foreign Ministry to provide explanations. His daughter recently resigned from her leadership role at a film producers' union after reports emerged of an offshore company established with Epstein in 2016. Calls for Lang’s resignation are mounting following the release of documents by the U.S. Department of Justice. Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that all options regarding Lang's future at the institute remain open as the government prioritizes its stable operation.
