Athanasiou chose OFI to get playing time

Nikos Athanasiou will continue his career at OFI on loan from Olympiacos. His previous loan spell at Rio Ave was abruptly terminated, forcing the player to return to Greece. Despite interest from Omonia and Levadiakos, the young left-back preferred the Cretan team. The main reason for his decision was the search for more playing time in official matches. At Levadiakos, the starting position was covered by Vichos, while at OFI his chances of playing are higher. If this deal had not occurred, the footballer would have joined the second team of Olympiacos.
